Those who achieve great things, as Erdogan has, do so by not giving up. Democratic governments normally become less popular with time: Unless you have perfect balance like Angela Merkel, success breeds failure. Erdogan raised Turkey so high in one arm that it is now about to fall over. To achieve more, he must not give up, which in this case means step back so somebody else can work the other arm.
