How can animals exist? Bacteria evolve much faster and should soon outwit any immune system.

Theory 1. Animals have vast resources. Think Korean War, Chinese on foot evenly matched against a smaller mechanized U.N. force.

Theory 2. Don’t mess with a good thing. Animals are just a way for bacteria to expand their habitat choices.

Or large organisms in general. Complex ecosystems with plants and animals are much more productive than purely bacterial ecosystems, so they support more bacteria.
