9 February 2015 - acetic acid

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

On Planet Chemistry, where the dogions chase the cations up a dendrite, everything can be understood from its name. For example, where is acetic acid from? Well, “acetic” means without whales, and obviously the water most removed from whales is in glaciers. Glacial acetic acid, freshly purified from its source, is then diluted to become ordinary acetic acid.

clue:

Because science is wonderful, “glacial acetic acid” really does mean undiluted acetic acid.

give me a clue so sweet and true
