The first macroscopic anatomical difference between the brains of men and women was not discovered until the 1980’s. There’s still a big argument going on—not over whether the difference is real (it is), but over whether the research should be done at all.

It’s OK. As long as the scientists can continue to say “we don’t know what it means,” they can probably keep their careers.
