The Houston Chronicle asked the National Security Agency, “Has the NSA ever imposed... a weakness on any cryptographic code?”

The NSA did not answer the question. They wrote, “Were we to intentionally impose weaknesses on cryptologic codes for use by the U.S. government, we would not be fulfilling our mission.” They didn’t mention whether they were fulfilling their mission or not.

But hey, this is the United States, and today is the Fourth of July. Go watch the fireworks and don’t worry about anybody else’s secrets.
