Artificial intelligence is another victim of the prestige of science. Ten and twenty years ago, artificial intelligence concentrated on its strong software technology, and was successful, as far as it went. But the field then decided to concentrate on its weak science, and now artificial intelligence graduates can’t find jobs.

Artificial intelligence attracts smart people. Apparently smart people consider prestige more important than money.
