29 September 1999 - knowledge is power

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Knowledge is power. We are knowledgeable. Therefore all hope is lost.

The rationale? Knowledge only works as long as it stays true, so knowledge demands a stable world. That’s why we’re sad when our friends die. As we learn, we’ll stabilize the Earth, freeze the solar system, and ultimately crystallize the entire universe. The swallows will always return to Capistrano, but it will be the end of jazz improvization.

The silver lining? To maintain social harmony, everyone’s brain will have to be surgically improved by excision of the boredom center.
