Calendar Reform

Today is the first day of the new millennium. Purists, shut up. You are right that under the old-fashioned Gregorian calendar, the millennium does not turn until 2001. But the new Whalean calendar, adopted today by authoritative decree of the Daily Whale, includes a year 0. Earlier dates BC are bumped back a year; we’ll call them “BZ” for Before Zero. Historians need not worry about their textbooks. Hardly any dates that old are known to within one year anyway.
