13 June 2000 - Fiji versus Syria

In a desperate bid to end the long-standing coup crisis, Fiji today declared war on Syria. “Let the hostages go, Speight,” demanded angry military leader Commodore Bainimarama. “All able citizens are needed for the fight against Syria. We must cleanse once and for all the foul stain smeared on our national pride by the dirty Syrians with their smooth transfer of power.”
