22 April 2002 - raising teenagers

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

If you punish your teens, they’ll learn not to get caught. If you set them a good example, they’re programmed to rebel against it. Correct procedure is to teach by experience; thus teenage boys should have mandatory military service, so they can learn that blowing things up gets tedious. And if you want to teach your kids to avoid sex before marriage, the only sure answer is to sell them into prostitution.
