What I Have Learned about War

1. The goal of every military mission is to send a message. A typical message is “Better do what we want, or we’ll blow stuff up.”
2. The other side, despite lengthy conversations, usually has great difficulty understanding these messages. They must be repeated over and over.
3. Talking doesn’t work either.
