Having kids makes a person more responsible. And one of the classic abuses of men in power is to have extra kids off the books. Of course, that trick doesn’t work for women.

Conclusion: At the level of society, evolution favors leaders who are irresponsible men because they are more responsible.

The serious point is that evolution may favor men as leaders because men are able to exploit the position to increase their evolutionary fitness, that is, to have more kids.
