U.S. Satellite Shoot-Down Plan

If you’re smart, sometimes you think of enough reasons to do something silly that you convince yourself.

The official explanation is that the shootdown of the falling satellite is for the safety of people on the ground. I haven’t found a single serious analyst who believes it. But what is the real reason: To destroy secret technology on the satellite, to send a diplomatic message, or to make an operational test of a capability that it has not been politically feasible to test until now? I’m guessing it’s a combination.
