We sit down to eat, we sit down to travel, and more and more we sit down to work. Now that we sit to use the internet rather than simply to watch TV, sitting stands for action, determination and persistence. Americans still stand up to shower; that will have to be fixed. The engineering and medical advantages of fully standardized posture are incalculable. The last step will be the sitting bed and its natural extension, the sitting coffin.
