I know people have trouble taking in the whole picture. They still think it’s a good idea to weather-strip their doors, but if you want to improve efficiency you have to look for the big gains first. You shouldn’t care about saving a little on your heating bill if you realize that the sun is radiating nearly all its energy into empty space. Even that’s not where we should start. Humanity won’t have a future if we can’t stop the expansion of the universe, which every minute puts vast resources permanently beyond our reach. Why do people have so much trouble prioritizing?
