11 December 2010 - IPv4 scalper

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

scalper: Psst! Want an IPv4 address? Still a few left!
customer: Oh? Are you a politician?
scalper: Just a humble peddler of scarce goods.
customer: But this IPv4 to IPv6 transition isn’t getting the attention it deserves.
scalper: You tell me!
customer: And that’s how you recognize a political issue. It either gets too much attention, like y2k, or too little.
scalper: Yeah, I still remember when I had to turn my inventory of pet rocks back into gravel.
customer: And you just know that any such thing as a shortage of 32-bit numbers can only be artificial.
scalper: Well look, you want one or not?
customer: No, I’m too busy feeling smug because I understand how much trouble we’re all in.
