Slowdown in Scaling Up

Two people can run down a rabbit and catch it in their hands. A thousand people can dig a canal with shovels. We’ve moved on and forgotten how to do those things, but we haven’t learned that to run a post-industrial society we need millions of people to take a systems view and progressively correct small weaknesses. It’s our big weakness.

Many organizations know how to steadily improve, but most don’t. I believe it’s so obvious that it’s counterintuitive.
