Ah, the delicious fiscal cliff! One more step and the toothy ground suddenly gapes below, hungry to devour falling businesses and the long-term unemployed, succulent succour for a dire fiend like me. But after the feast, what next? An economy is not like an economist; it cannot be laid out by a short sharp shock but always corrects its mistakes and comes back. When that happens what will I live on?
