How can we break Congress from its deadlock? When representative democracy fails, we can only resort to direct democracy. Americans have ballot initiatives in most states, but at the federal level we need a constitutional amendment. Two thirds of states can force an Article V convention to propose the amendment, and then it goes into force when third quarters of them ratify it, giving Congress no say in the matter. Then we’ll be able to bypass them when they lose lock and go dumb. Isn’t that great? If we start now it may take only 15 years!
