11 May 2013 - multiplicative money

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

When we say that the rich get richer we show unconscious knowledge that money is not additive. It’s time to openly admit that money is in fact multiplicative. The new currency will be called the factor (meaning a thing that matters). We can set an initial exchange rate of 1 factor to, say, $500,000; smaller denominations will be needed to buy groceries. When you are paid a sum, your new wealth is your old wealth multiplied by the payment. Our money and our understanding of it will finally agree: The rich will get richer if they reject the little people. The destitute, with a wealth of zero, will be stuck that way.
