Have you noticed how backward Europe is? Why, my typical reaction to a decision by the European Court of Human Rights is “now there’s a principled stand.” Compare the European Parliament, where I can proudly answer “why the pantaloons do they want to regulate that?” It must be that big business does not know how to exploit human rights and so sees no need to control the Court. But authoritarian countries have always known how to exploit human rights for money.
