The old technical term for “technical term” is “term of art”. Lately we’ve forgotten to fail to distinguish between technical fields and creative fields, as if we believed that technical fields are less creative and creative fields less technical. Well, it’s time to remember not to forget to fail, because needless distinctions hinder both soundness and beauty. Instead of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, the STEM fields should be Stuff, Things, Everything, and More.
