Physicists call a Grand Unified Theory a GUT, not because everybody can pass it (which says nothing of its digestibility), but because, if one were true, it would constitute the guts of the universe, one of the parts you discard. But in physics a Grand Unified Theory does not unify everything grandly. It only unifies forces like a joint command. The ultimate goal of the race to the bottom is a TOE, or in other words, watch your posture.
