The nineteenth century, when capital first gained ascendancy over labor through the Industrial Revolution, brought a lot of ideas about how the two could be organized. Today we approach a further decline of labor’s economic importance, tending finally to zero. Don’t panic; the nineteenth century figured out the ideas for us. All we need to think up is a way to slowly and gently expropriate the rich (avoiding a war that the side with more resources will win), so that capital, the ultimate source of power, is fairly shared among the goofing-off class.
