Lesson 7: One word of caution before you assume your post: the bureaucracy may seem orderly and sluggish from the outside, but inside it is a furious backbiting dog-eat-dog political free-for-all. Keep a long knife in your desk, and remember the magic words: “Failure was unavoidable due to funding and personnel shortfalls, as I warned all along.”
