21 October 2018 - diplomatic immunity
< yesterday --
tomorrow >
Major national goals, like China’s goal to annex the South China Sea
or North Korea’s goal to keep dry under a nuclear umbrella, carry
important messages and are granted diplomatic immunity: They cannot
be arrested by diplomacy. Yet actions other than diplomacy may backfire
disastrously. Politicians, and those who seek to influence policy via
the public advice-o-sphere, cannot admit it. War does not need to show
the tip of its mast over the horizon before truth is a casualty.
clue:
For example, the Trump trade sanctions on North Korea backfired, since
none of North Korea’s neighbors is going along: China, Russia, and
even South Korea. Luckily it’s not a disastrous failure.
give me a clue so sweet and true
